BIO
I started competitive athletics in the second grade and played every
sport my parents would allow.  When I reached high school, I narrowed it down to Football, Basketball and Track.  I was introduced to cycling in 1985 while attending college. I enjoyed the long difficult training that was required to excel in cycling.  It was my introduction to athletic suffering.  Going Dark wins bike races, period.  I graduated from SMU in 1990 and spent the next 6 years on the competitive cycling circuit.  After I retired from competitive cycling, I continued to
ride and race locally.  I was re-introduced to weight training in 2013 by my wife, Caryn.  It was a nice change and an opportunity to build my body in a different way than cycling and allowed me to compete.

My come to Jesus moment occurred in March of 2020 when I was introduce to CrossFit by a friend who is Married to an L2 and an employee of CrossFit Inc.  My buddy, Jared, had me climbing ropes, jumping on boxes, tossing sandbags and flipping tractor tires.  What I call an "adult playground".

We all remember the life alert commercial.  “I’ve fallen and I can’t get up.”  What is a burpee?  I’ve fallen and I CAN GET UP.  Once I figured it out, there was no doubt in my mind that CrossFit was the answer.  So much of what ails our species can be solved or greatly diminished by simply getting away from being sedentary and moving. CrossFit teaches us how to move, how to eat healthy, how to engage in a community, personal responsibility and many, many other life tools.

I became a coach because I like teaching. I like engaging with people. I like empowering people, and most of all I like showing people that they can do what they thought they could not do!!  This transfers to other aspects of their lives and positively impacts them and everyone around them.  Take care, I look forward to working with each
and every person that walks through the door.  See you in The Box.
